Kennaugh keeps race lead

July 09, Stage 4: Kitzbühel – Matrei/Osttirol 171.9km – Oscar Gatto won his second stage at the Tour of Austria in a sprint finish ahead of Juan Jose Lobato Del Valle (Movistar Team) and Katusha’s Marco Haller.



“Well, this victory is simply a very, very good result and something that makes me happy and proud to be part of this team,” said Gatto. “I knew I felt good, the feelings I had the days before the race were good and these results are the proof. Besides the good condition, the confidence I have, and my team too, played a key role. Also today my teammates did a great job and I have to thanks them because they put me in the condition to win.”

“I’m sure these two victories didn’t come for the luck of the draw. In the first part of the season I worked well during the training but I always had no luck in race. Now that my efforts have been paid back, I want to continue and to take other prestigious results. I know there are few important events in my schedule and I want keep this condition to do well.”

Peter Kennaugh (Team Sky) retained the overall leader’s jersey as there was no change to the top ten on overall classification after the stage.

Tomorrow’s stage takes the riders from Matrei/Osttirol to St. Johann/Alpendorf over 146km and features a HC climb at the half-way point of the race followed by a Cat 2 climb.
