Tony Longo crowned Marathon Italian champion on the Etna
Treviglio (BG), 22 settembre 2013
Tony Longo is the new Marathon Italian champion. TX Active-Bianchi’s rider took the "tricolore" jersey at Etna Marathon, 78 km race in Milo (Sicily) on Sunday, September 22nd. Longo preceded Damiano Ferraro (+6:19) and Samuele Porro.
“Finally, it was about time! I'm really happy of this fantastic result. I knew I was in a good shape, but every race holds traps around the bends. In 2013 I focused on Marathon races and our choice was well rewarded. I wish to dedicate this success above all to myself, because I know the sacrifices I did in the last months, then to my parents and to the whole team TX Active-Bianchi” Longo commented. "It was really a successful season for us, all over the world", the Italian rider added after winning the Tricolore on his Methanol SL2.
The XCM Italian championships marked the sixth seasonal win for Tony Longo, the third in September after those at Marathon della Brianza in Casatenovo and Val di Sole Marathon in Malè (both in Northern Italy). Previously, the Italian had led his Methanol SL2 to first place at Bardolino Bike, GF delle Terme and Venzonassa Marathon. With Longo's win, Bianchi has reclaimed its status as a major force in the MTB world, winning with its whole Methanol range: 26”, new 27.5 SL and 29”.
Swiss Martin Gujan on Methanol 29 SL was third at Guiyang International Mountain Bike Race in Guiyang (China), on September 22nd as well.
Junior Chiara Teocchi on Methanol SX2 placed third overall among Women, Katia Moro won the female Rookie series at the 7th Trofeo MTB Città di Valeggio in Valeggio sul Mincio (Northern Italy).
