Big Finish for 5 Hour Energy Presented by Kenda

DAHLONEGA, GEORGIA (September 11, 2013) –  The inaugural Tour of Alberta professional cycling stage race concluded Sunday in Calgary with the 5-hour ENERGY® presented by Kenda Racing Team finishing second in the Team Classification.  Two teammates finished in the Top 10 of the General Classification, Bobby Sweeting (Asheville, N.C.) in sixth and Francisco “Paco” Mancebo (El Tiemblo, Avila, Spain) in seventh.
The Tour of Alberta, held September 3-8, was the final team event of the 2013 campaign for the 5-hour ENERGY® presented by Kenda Racing Team.  It was the second time this year that the 5-hour ENERGY Team was the top Continental squad in a UCI-sanctioned stage race.  In May, the 5-hour ENERGY Team finished fourth overall at the Amgen Tour of California, and placed well ahead of six UCI World ProTeams. At the Tour of Alberta, the Georgia-based team finished in front of five ProTeams; the winner of the Team Classification was BMC Racing Team. All eight riders on the race roster this past week completed the Tour of Alberta – Mancebo, Sweeting, Shawn Milne, Andrés Miguel Díaz Corrales, Max Jenkins, Taylor Shelden, Jim Stemper, and David Williams.
The 5-hour ENERGY Team competed in six UCI stage races in 2013, three in the United States, two in Canada and one in Spain.  A Top 10 position was secured in each race by the team captain Mancebo. His best finish was second overall at both the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon (Spain) in April and the Tour of the Gila Powered by SRAM (New Mexico, U.S.) in May. Mancebo was named the top male individual for 2013 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar, the third consecutive year he has earned this honor. 5-hour ENERGY presented by Kenda Racing Team finished third overall in the NRC team standings.
Two team members, Mancebo and Diaz, will make appearances for SeaSucker at booth 2110 during Interbike, the largest bicycle industry trade show in North America.  Meet Mancebo and Diaz from 2-4 p.m. on Wed, Sept. 18 and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thurs, Sept. 19 and Friday, Sept. 20. Both athletes will also compete for the 5-hour ENERGY presented by Kenda Racing Team in the USA CRITS Finals, presented by Interbike. The men’s USA CRITS Finals will take place Thursday, September 19, under the lights, 8:30-10 p.m. PST, on the grounds of the Interbike International Expo at Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
