A special toast in Treviglio for Kerschbaumer’s World golds
Treviglio (Ita), 2013, September 3rd
Bianchi celebrated the two gold medals won by Gerhard Kerschbaumer at XCO World Champs in Pietermaritzburg (South-Africa) with a special toast in the company's headquarter in Treviglio, on Tuesday, September 3rd.
“It’s an amazing achievement for our company – Bianchi CEO Bob Ippolito said – and we wanted to share it with the new World Champion, the whole team and the Bianchi family. It is another key stage for our brand and product’s growth and success on the international markets.” On behalf of the company, Ippolito donated to Kerschbaumer a thermic bottle including a special Bianchi watch.
TX Active-Bianchi Team President Felice Gimondi, Team Manager Massimo Ghirotto and marathon World bronze medallist Leonardo Paez also took part to the event to celebrate TX Active-Bianchi rider’s success on his Methanol 29 SL in the team relay and the cross country under 23 individual race.
“I made a bet on Gerhard several years ago and I am winning it, and that makes me happy” – TX Active-Bianchi president Felice Gimondi said. “This guy is a great prospect, a committed athlete that does not speak a lot, but leaves his performance do the talking for him.” It was a special occasion for Gimondi, who enjoyed the opportunity of celebrating another World Champion jersey 40 years after the one he wore in Barcelona on September 2nd, 1973.
After toasting with everyone at the party, Kerschbaumer stated: “When I crossed the line, and I realized I had just become a World Champion, I thought to myself: great. Everything panned out great: my choice to race in the elite series in the season, my perfect Team, my 29” Bianchi bike, my legs and my head.” Now it’s time to celebrate, even though “Gerry” does not love to exaggerate. There are still races to honorate, challenges to take and a dream to pursue: Rio 2016.
