Mancebo Secures Top Spot for NRC Men’s Standings for Third Straight Year

DAHLONEGA, GEORGIA (August 1, 2013) –  For a third consecutive season, team captain  Francisco “Paco” Mancebo of Spain has secured the title as the best individual men’s professional cyclist on the National Racing Calendar (NRC).   USA Cycling confirmed this week that with his fifth place finish at the Cascade Cycling Classic in Oregon, Mancebo clinched the NRC men’s championship with 814 points, and only one men's race remaining this year. The 5-hour ENERGY® presented by Kenda Racing Team currently sits second overall in the team standings.

In April, Mancebo took first place overall at the Redlands Bicycle Classic in California. He placed second place overall at the Joe Martin Stage Race presented by Nature Valley in Arkansas, Vuelta a Castilla y Leon in Spain and the Tour of the Gila Powered by SRAM in New Mexico.  Mancebo also had strong showings at the Tour de Beauce in Canada, taking fourth place overall, and at the Amgen Tour of California and the Parx Casino Philly Cycling Classic, where he took seventh overall in both events.
Up next for the 5-hour ENERGY® presented by Kenda Racing Team is the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah, beginning on Tuesday, August 6 in Cedar City.  The 5-hour ENERGY® squad recently added Colombian climber Andrés Miguel Díaz Corrales to its roster. The Tour of Utah will be his first race with the team. He will support Mancebo, who won the Tour of Utah in 2009 and finished second overall in 2010.
“The Tour of Utah has proven it’s a perfect race for the 5-hour ENERGY® presented by Kenda Racing Team to start the second half of the cycling season,” said Directeur Sportif Frankie Andreu. “The race continues to draw the world’s best cyclists and we look forward to racing on some of the most beautiful roads in the U.S. We will focus on stage wins and hopefully that will lead toward fighting it out for the overall victory.”
At the Larry H Miller Tour of Utah the Team will showcase a new raspberry-colored jersey for its title sponsor. This design matches the new product and bottle for the title sponsor’s special fall flavor, 5-hour ENERGY® Raspberry.  Between October 1 and December 31, 2013, the makers of 5-hour ENERGY® are donating $.05 of every specially-marked bottle of the raspberry flavor sold to the Living Beyond Breast Cancer® foundation.  The Team will be featured in a new, 5-hour ENERGY® national television commercial for the fall cancer campaign.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer is a national nonprofit education and support organization serving women and families affected by breast cancer.  In 2012, 5-hour ENERGY® joined the fight against breast cancer when 5-hour ENERGY® Pink Lemonade flavor was released, and donated $387,531 to the Avon Foundation for Women Breast Crusade.
