8 weeks ago Rad Racing parent of 4 boys and Board of Directors member, Mark Bender sustained a devastating spinal cord injury while on vacation in Hawaii.
After being stabilized Mark was moved to the Daniel Craig Rehab Hospital in Englewood, Colorado.
Mark is currently paralyzed from the chest down.
His wife and 4 kids temporarily relocated to Colorado to be with him.
This incident has significantly impacted our tight knit Rad Racing family.
When Sarah packed the kids up she had the foresight to bring the bikes.
Last weekend with the help of Colorado friends Greg Keller and Brandon Dwight I flew out to Denver to get the boys out for some riding.
We spent almost 2 full days at Valmont Bike Park in Boulder.
The boys couldn’t stop smiling, Mark was able to come out to the park and see his kids rip it.
After a great weekend the boys were completely cooked, my heart was filled and my soul was fed knowing that I helped to bring some good times to the boys during a very difficult time.
The boys are doing well, Mark is progressing well in his PT.
Inpatient discharge May 29th, sounds like they are gonna stay out in Colorado for awhile.
