3/31/2013 - NEWS!
All of us at Team UK Youth hope you enjoyed a very happy Easter!
Over the weekend we were due to ride the Tour of the North, in Northern Ireland, a well respected stage race, won in 1976 by Sean Kelly and in 1977 by Eddy van den Broecke (brother of Wilfried).
Unfortunately, due to the terrible weather within the country the 50th edition of the race was cancelled.
We managed to make a hasty Plan B - and contested races in the South of England on Good Friday, and the North of England on Easter Sunday.
The traditional "Easter Classic" at Castle Combe - this race is always a good indication of current form.
Marcin Bialoblocki - managed to form a 2 Man move with 2012 Team UK Youth rider, and former Paris-Roubaix winner Magnus Backstedt - the pair quickly built up an advantage of over a minute on the very active peleton.
With around 12km remaining, Marcin made his bid for victory - and within 5km had built a lead over Backstedt of around 45secs.
A chasing group of 12 were closing on Backstedt - and Team UK Youth had representation within the chasers, in the shape of Yanto Barker.
Bialoblocki took the win comfortably, and in fine style, Backstedt's advantage was too great for the chasing group, and Yanto Barker took second from this group to secure a very respectable 1st and 4th for the team.
On Easter Sunday - Rob Partridge and Ian Wilkinson pinned their numbers on to contest the CDNW race at Capernwray.
The guys rode well as a team - against teams with greater numbers (including, Rapha-Condor-JLT, Hope Factory Racing & HerbalLife) with Rob eventually solo'ing to the win - "Wilko" took 5th - to complete a successful Plan B of racing.
Sincere thanks to you all for your continued support of Team UK Youth.
