How Tight should I tighten my stem bolts?
Most FSA stems can be tightened adequately with 5-6Nm torque. The torque written on the stems (8.8Nm or 11.8Nm) is the maximum allowable torque for the stem bolts. Going above the maximum torque written on the stem may cause the bolt to break. Check with handlebar and fork manufacturer for maximum allowable torque specifications before tightening the stem. The Handlebar or fork may have a lower allowable torque than the stem bolts. Always use Dynamic Carbon installation compound between your FSA stem and handlebar and steer tube.
