How tight should I tighten my stem/ shifter clamp/ brake lever clamp bolts?
Most stem, brake lever, and shift lever manufacturers have recommended bolt torque for their products. Check the manufacturer instructions and tighten to the lowest allowable torque. In many cases this is 4-5 Nm of torque. Never go above 9Nm on stem and clamp bolts or damage to the handlebar may occur. Always use Dynamic Carbon Assembly paste between handlebar and stem, and handlebar and lever clamps to reduce the necessary torque value and prevent damage to the carbon.
