WHEELS: REAR WHEEL NOISE
Why do my RD-400/RD-488/RD-600/RD-800 rear wheel makes noise.
If the lubrication in your rear hub is insufficient you may notice the hub running loudly or squeaking. This issue is easy to take care of by removing the freehub body and adding light grease. A clue in this situation is a loud ratchet noise when coasting. FSA hubs are designed to run quietly. Noise indicates too little lubrication. Take the hub apart according to the instructions listed in our technical documents (see also "DISASSEMBLING RD-400/RD-488/RD-600/RD-800 REAR HUB" FAQ). Wipe the pawl area clean, inspect and re-lubricate generously. Be sure to lubricate the pawls, the rubber seal and the space between the axle and freehub. We recommend using light, low viscosity grease. Assemble according to the instructions listed in our technical documents. If you have any further questions about the mechanism, please contact our US headquarters.
